GAETANO CREPALDI

Doctor Gaetano Crepaldi is a graduate from the Universtiy of Padova, Italy, and is a postdoctoral Fellowship in haematology of the University of California in Los Angeles, United States.
From 1957 to 2003, Doctor Crepaldi has been Assistant Professor of the Department of Medicine; Full Professor of Gerontology and Geriatrics; Director of the Division of Gerontology and Metabolic diseases; Director of Postgraduate School in Gerontology and Geriatrics; Full Professor of Internal Medicine; Director of the Department of Internal Medicine; Director of Clinica Medica I of the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences. In 1977, he has founded and directed the Postgraduate School in Diabetology and Metabolic Diseases, all at the University of Padova in Italy. Doctor Crepaldi is currently Director of the Padova Center of the Study Group of Metabolic Disease and Arteriosclerosis, Director of the Regional Center of the Epidemiology and Prevention of Arteriosclerosis, Director of the National Research Council (CNR) Center on Aging, President of the Foundation for the Study of Complications in Diabetes. He was Vice-President of the Biology and Medicine Committee of the National Research Council (C.N.R.); President of the Italian Society of Diabetology; President of the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics; and President of the Italian Society of Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism Diseases.
Doctor Crepaldi is the official Italian Representative on the board of the International Association of Gerontology. He is coordinator for the areas of Diabetology, Gerontology and Osteoporosis within the Italy-USA Agreement of Scientific and Technologic Cooperation. He is currently President of the Mediterranean Society of Atherosclerosis (MSA) and President of the Mediterranean Society for Osteoporosis and other Skeletal Diseases (MSOSD). From 1994 to 1996, he was president of the Study Group for Diabetic Eye Complications of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and, from 1996 to 2000, President of the Mediterranean Group for the Study of Diabetes (MGSD).
Doctor Crepaldi is the author of more than 600 scientific articles regarding metabolic diseases published in major national and international scientific journals. He is editor of the following textbooks: Trattato Italiano di Gerontologia e Geriatria (U.T.E.T.); Trattato Italiano di Medicina Interna. Editor-in-chief of the International Journal Aging: Clinical and Experimental Research. He is member of the Editorial Board of numerous journals including Current Opinion in Lipidology; Diabetes Nutrition and Metabolism; Acta Diabetologica; Metabolismo Oggi; Pharmacological Sciences, Drugs and Aging; The Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging; Journal of Cardiovascular Risk
