Up one level
1998 Fasting insulin and apolipoprotein B levels and low-density lipoprotein particle size as risk factors for ischemic heart disease.
Results of the prospective Québec Cardiovascular Study involving middle-aged men have demonstrated that a triad of nontraditional metabolic risk factors that included elevated fasting insulin and apolipoprotein B levels as well as small LDL particles provided further information on coronary heart disease risk beyond the conventional lipid variables. Therefore, these results emphasize the importance of these features of the Metabolic Syndrome as critical correlates of coronary heart disease risk.
